Day 6: stranger by the day

"A fundamental truth about courage: courage is not the absence of fear. It is the presence of fear, often a most crippling one, but a fear that is overcome by a heroic act of will, or by the recognition that one has no choice but to do what is right." - Conrado de Quiros, Profile in Courage, 11.02.2008

Looking back, when push came to shove, I never stood up for myself. I never fought for what I believed to be right. There are few things that I regret that I have not done, these are some of them. Addie, I'm so sorry that I did handle the Avalon thing better. I still regret that I didn't do anything. The scary part is, years later, would I handle the situation any different? Fresh, pink faced from College, could I really stand up to what I knew was wrong? Or even if the situation happened now, would I fight or would I run?

Everything is a test. All our answers are based on our conscious choices. I think now, I would take more time contemplating before reacting. As they once said, Never make a decision at the height of your passion. I know now that there are several things to consider - not that it would change my position of fighting, but just to be more aware that there is more than just one aspect to any situation.
