hopeful instead...?

summer food

One Sunday for lunch, I thought to myself, why not make pasta al pesto from scratch and pair it up with roast potatoes? so I went out onto the balcony and got as much basil leaves I could carry (I have a lot no worries!), added some pine nuts, garlic and olive oil and made my pesto! Then I went back out into the balcony and grabbed a branch of rosemarino and added it to my baked potatoes.

There's something completely satisfying about cooking yourself and getting the herbs right from your balcony!

continue to watch me grow!

My flowers!

The brown leaves are from the mango seed I brought back from my last trip home!

I have lots and lots of spicy pepper growing!
I've now included a little herb patch. The above are all plants I bought from seeds. But I also bought an already grown rosemary bush and basil. Those two are super useful in the kitchen when I cook and they smell nice too! Who knew I had a thing for plants and gardening! :D

*pause*

This past summer has been hectic. I didn't go on holiday like I normally would have. No out of town trips. Nevertheless, I've been keeping busy. I've been trying to leave the office at 5 sharp to go to Fregene or Passoscuro, the nearby beaches, to destress, switch off and have fun.

I've also gone wandering around the City Center late at nights, discovering the hidden treasures and back alleys, pubs and restaurants at my disposal. One rare night, I was walking along the Cavour back streets that open up to the Colosseum. It was quite a surprise to find yourself walking on cobblestones with no proper orientation of where you are to end up face to face with the Colosseum. It was very pretty and it took my breathe away.

On one such night, I found myself walking the halls of La Sapienza, one of the main universities in Rome. It was a dreamy night where Rome wasn't too hot and not windy to walk around it.

Things are relatively quiet at work hence the new posts/updates. My laptop has unfortunately died and I'm going to have to save to buy a new one. I'm cutting off internet at home so I can save money. So for the moment, I'm blogging from the office.

My current pause state could be attributed to lack of sleep. I haven't slept at all last night. So I'm presently in Zombie mode. I hope I snap out of it soon as I can't take much more of this.

you just had to be there

So imagine this, Pyro and I visit his friend, Lawrence of Arabia one random Friday night.
Lawrence wanted to take us to this fish place he knew.
So, I was driving, with Pryo beside me and Lawrence in the back.
Lawrence starts giving directions in spanish - and just because I suck, I didn't understand that he was talking to me and giving me directions.
(Bueno, Rei, A la derecha - and I floored it going straight!)

So Lawrence starts laughing, OMG Rei, when are you going to learn Spanish?!
We continue our little expedition and Lawrence switches to Italian. and I know you all are thinking that I speak Italian - and Lawrence is convinced of that too. Let me tell you now, people, my Italian SUCKS. It truly, truly does.

Here we are, me happily driving along while semi tuning out Lawrence's story.
"so this guy we're going to - here on the right - was a champion surfer, like he really loves the sea - here to the right - and he competed professionally as well - park to the right - and he went to jail - ok we're here already to the right"

I tuned out everything else and only heard, "we're here already", so I parked to the LEFT!

Lawrence couldn't believe it, and was like, "well, ok, the left is just as good as well"

HAHAHA...
It's not as funny to read it, but it was funny at the time and during the weekend that I was thinking back to it.

aaawww moments (of other people)

so, some people are just crazy when it comes to proposing...but they can be so cute!

and, Boo posted this on my wall, as she thought, "this is your style"

current mood

I'm undecided if I'm dark and moody or preppy and positive...

so lets be both.

and then...

"Threw you the obvious and you flew with it on your back a name
In your recollection down among a million same
Difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed
And passed over when I've looked right through to see
You naked and oblivious and you don't see me
But I threw you the obvious just to see
If there's more behind the eyes of a fallen angel eyes of a tragedy
Here I am expecting just a little bit too much
From the wounded but I see through it all and see you
So I threw you the obvious to see what occurs behind the eyes of a fallen angel
Eyes of a tragedy oh well apparently nothing
You don't see me you don't see me at all"
