Natural Disasters

And I'm not talking about Yogi here. I've convinced everyone else that the interest is only platonic and I just like talking to him. I haven't admitted to anyone else that I think about him constantly-but maybe that's because I can't remember what he looks like, etc. Crushes happen all the time, and disappear after 5 seconds of seeing and talking to them again. But I digress.

The last time I felt an earthquake was in the Philippines. I was a kid and was walking along and lost my footing because the world was moving around. I was too young to understand what was going on. 18 years later, I'm no different.
I woke up to feel my bed moving. Since I was asleep, I just thought there was someone having really wild sex, up until I realized that it was MY bed that was moving and perhaps there was a ghost couple having wild sex in my bed. Then reasoning kicked in. I realized I was experiencing an earthquake and I didn't know what to do.
Time was 3.30 am. It lasted for several seconds or even a minute, but for me, it felt like a lifetime. When my world stopped shaking. I was awake for some time more scared to even breathe. Eventually, fatigue took over and I had fallen asleep again.

This morning I had woken up to the awful news that, what we felt in Rome wasn't the full force of the earthquake. It happend in Abruzzo, a region to the north of Rome, where everything was old and building literally collapsed. The town itself was in chaos as there was only one working hospital. Hotels and dormitories had fallen. People had run out of their houses before it turned to rubble infront of their very eyes.

Berlousconi had declared a state of emergency and had gone to see the damage himself. Overall, it was a bleak day. Last poll they took, over 100 people died, while thousands were left injured.

I was lucky. Others can't say the same.
