I spent an odd day yesterday. For the first time ever, I was in the house doing nothing but talking for most of the day with my family. On a Saturday, I'm hardly ever home, so to talk for most of the time was nice. That and my landlord finally *finally* put up my gates/grills. Actually, I couldn't do much in the house since they were here working. I had to stay, but what can do you when you have men working in the house (ok, around the outside of it)? For the first hour, I folded my plastics (seriously). Then I talked to my mom for about an hour. Then Ralph called and I talked to him for hours. It was fun. Normally conversations with home are kept brief because it costs me a fortune, but when they called, it was more affordable. Then we switched to skype.
It's such an odd feeling having bars outside my windows/doors, nevertheless, I feel safe. I can actually leave the shutters open to let some light in at night. I love waking up to the sun on my face. I can feel secure in opening the windows to let the house have air circulate. Ironically, I've closed myself and the house since July. Now, I don't have to worry about opening up a window in the living room and being in my room, nothing will happen.
I'm finally safe within my own house.
