I flew out of Manila on Saturday, my mom's birthday. Prior to that, I've been getting killer headaches and the feeling that I wasn't feeling all that great. Somehow, I managed to stay ok for my last week of vacation in Manila.
It was the first time in a long time that the Family was all together for a big holiday/event. If I'm not mistaken, the last time we congregated like that was when Kuya got married, October 2006!
As you can see my niece has grown. I don't know how you do it Kari, when you talk of your younger cousins, but it seems to me that I just don't have the patience for kids. It took all of my energy to play with Juliana, and I was exhausted - and I wasn't even working!
There was a sense of finality during my trip. I guess, everythings changed. The next time I head home, everyone I know would probably be married and/or have kids. Probably when I head back too, I wouldn't be making the trip alone. Maybe. Who knows.
I had to go back and get a work visa. My dad was very helpful in helping me get my new passport and the working visa. I stayed for christmas because my mom asked me to. I found a discovered a different side to my Kuya and a surprising side to my sister-in-law.
Although the motto is "mai dire mai" (never say never), seeing marriages, pregnancy and the reality of kids kinda puts me off the whole thing. At least for a while. I was thinking earlier today, my usual whine, "why didn't anyone tell me?" whenever I found myself in interesting situations. Now, that I saw everything with my own eyes, the universe's version of telling me the reality of all three aspects, I'm almost wishing I was still naive.
Apparently, I deal better with surprises. Without knowing and fully understanding, I'll just go ahead and handle whatever situation gets thrown at me. Honestly, when my birthday came round, I was so, "oh, I'm 27, its time to get married, have kids, etc", now I'm just happy being 27!
I have to rest up, I kept promising Leo that while at home, I'm sleep and rest up, however, it never happens! There's always something to do. Plus, differently from Manila, when I leave the glass here, it stays put. In Manila, it always disappears on its own and miraculously, there's always a clean glass in the shelf. *sigh*
I guess I'm back.
PS: HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
